The President doesn't run the show

Context: "You don't want to go there mentioning Biden. You don't have to like Trump, but surely you don't need to have experience someone with dementia to know he wasn't running the show."

The idea that any President "runs the show" is a fantasy spun by the Founding Fathers to glorify George Washington and his successors.
