Post-truth politics

Context: "Early-morning thoughts: as a member of the reality-based community, I have discovered the concept of 'post-truth politics.' I got here because I have been struck by just how much the Trump regime is at variance from the facts on the ground, currently, and I wondered why that was."

1. I think you are right, broadly speaking.

2. Deranging the American people (whether by conscious design or the course of history) serves the interests of this nation's enemies: we can no longer think rationally, therefore we behave irrationally, therefore our successes will be fewer and our failures both more frequent and more self-destructive.
