My parents took me to see 2001: A Space Odyssey around the time of its theatrical release.
I was seven, maybe eight years old.
It made *no sense whatever* — but it made one hell of an impression on my young mind.
I remember the opening ape scene pretty well ... the monolith ... throwing the bone, turning into a spaceship ... then a bunch of boring stuff, people talking or whatever ... HAL and Dave ... Daisy, Daisy ... the stargate sequence.
Also there was an intermission, which was new to me.
