I'm old enough to remember

I'm old enough to remember when people said — correctly — that the Nixon White House (a notorious gang of thugs, fixers, spooks, and mobsters) took up itself extraordinary powers constitutionally (or at least traditionally) reserved for the Legislative and Judicial branches.

Nixon was a crook. Unlike Trump, Nixon truly was a statesman. But he was also a life-long associate of organized crime.
