How the stock market works

User tekk:

The short version: The stock market is nothing but a measure how how much richer the 0.1% think that they’ll be in the future. Because rich people can’t conceive of a world in which they can rightly lose their money, the stock market will tend to go up until even the most thick-skulled trust fund baby realizes that things are about to go bad.

ETA: This is of course the market as a whole. There are plenty of reasons to make a single stock go down: it makes a hostile takeover easier for example.

Oort Cloud Follies

Poster for the Oort Cloud Follies.

The Oort Cloud Follies are less than a day away. Two questions:

  • How are you getting there, and what are your reasons for going?

Most contestants are generating transdimensional corporations for the event. I plan to fold timespace using a customized PKD algorithm.

  • Are you an astrophysical engineer?

We have several last-minute entries with various Euclidean-based conventional spacecraft from the late 20th and early twentieth century. How far back in time does these craft need to begin in order to reach the Oort cloud by tomorrow? These craft can skip past the Rally Zone and go straight to the Cloud.

Anagrams

Do you like anagrams?

Yes? No?

Either way, something is wrong with you.

There are no right answers in a world ruled by anagrams.

Follow my [ Anagrams page] if it's good for you too.
