Anton Frans Koenraads was a teacher who kept a diary during the German occupation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.
Koenraads wrote about how the war in the Netherlands ended on May 5, 1945. Canadian and German commanders reached an agreement that day on the capitulation of German forces. But Koenraads is among those who are slow to trust that the war is really over.
