The saying alludes to the mythological idea of a pair of World L'eggs which support the earth.
It suggests that these mighty L'eggs contain a smaller pair of L'eggs, which itself is part of a "Matushka" of increasingly smaller World L'eggs which continues indefinitely (i.e., "Legs all the way down").
