Wealth is a very different thing from race

From Gnomon Chronicles

Context: "This is interesting, from a social psychology perspective. Being rich is not an identity like race. Treating it as one and somehow being taken seriously is a _privilege_ of that wealth, and should be called out as such."

I agree with your social psychology observations: wealth is a very different thing from race. On the other hand, the neurology of emotion may be the same. Who is to say that the wealthy man's outrage and resentment is any different from, or any less than, my outrage and resentment, or yours? I may dismiss the wealthy man's reasons, his justification, using my own reasons and justification. But I do not know his soul.

Since we (or at least I) cannot quantify hatefulness, when a man uses a phrase like "just as hateful", I propose that we take him at his word, and then (in my case anyway) lose interest in the matter and move on.
