Jerusalem is a hub of commerce
From Gnomon Chronicles
Context: "I have not really figured out how to unpack my thoughts about this, but I keep thinking that there are more people who have very intense feelings about the meaning of Jerusalem than there are people who know that it has a lot of malls. / I'm not sure why and how I think this matters. But I think it does, somehow."
I believe you are saying that we tend to think of Jerusalem as the City of God, when in fact Jerusalem is a hub of commerce, just like any other city.
