Figure out who is resistant (A), and give up on them.

— Hectoring one's friends who need hectoring (C) until they get their shit together, or until patience runs out and the friendship goes into abeyance (A).
National Security Wolves
I would say rather that stage for a coup is being set by the Power Faction which orchestrated the rise of Trump.
This is America's newest and boldest Power Faction — the Power Faction which (I reason) orchestrated 9/11 and established the Department of Homeland Security in direct competition with existing Power Factions. The Power Factions of National Security States gather and fight like packs of Wolves. A new Wolf wanted a place in Wolf Pack America, and it got in by force and deception. And now the New Wolf deploys non-insignia agents in Portland and wherever, picking up protesters or whoever and hustling them into unmarked vans.
