Bird rescue attempt

Animals grieve, and more.

Once while driving I saw, in the rearview mirror, a little bird on a lamp post over a busy street trying to rescue a fallen companion. That bird flew down, and back up, and down, and back up. a brief pause before the lights changed.

I wanted to get out of my car and rescue that fallen bird, like its companion was trying to do. But this was in Minneapolis, city traffic, the lights changed, I felt I couldn't stop and block heavy traffic so I drove around the block, actually the Southdale shopping center.

When I got back around the block, both birds were gone. I still feel sad for both birds: the one who fell and died, and the one who tried to save the fallen friend.
