George Beck: February 9, 1945
This period of waiting is the most trying time of my prison life, although it has been a very active day. Russian Air Force visited here four times bombing and machine gunning. Were patiently awaiting this great moment of release, we must take a chance on being shelled and killed. It doesn’t seem possible we’re so near to freedom and yet so far, roll on.
