Before his appearance in The Phantom Tollbooth, Tock the Clock Dog auditioned for Who Wants to Be a Chronometer?
Although a temporal-medical condition prohibited Tock's participation as a contestant, the show's producers were so impressed that they offered Tock a staff position as Continuity Director.
The deal ultimately fell through, and Tock went on to gain fame for his work in Phantom Tollbooth.
