The theory of reverse-engineering the noösphere—commonly expressed as "Ontology reverse-engineers phylology"—is a Gnomon algorithm hypothesis that the development of the memes of a sentient culture, from ideation to gestasynapsis to "getting it" (ontology), goes through stages resembling or representing successive adult stages in the evolution of the noösphere's remote ancestry (phylology).
