1828: Mathematician and crime-fighter Joseph Ludwig Raabe publishes new version of Raabe's ratio test, which uses the convergence or divergence of an infinite series to detect and prevent crimes against mathematical constants.
1869: Mystic and faith healer Grigori Rasputin born.
