The Eel Cheats Death

Somewhere in the Old West, The Eel is running towards a train station -- running and sweating, because he is running for his life. The train is pulling away. The Eel gets closer. The sun is high in the sky. The train gets smaller. He is too late: he misses the train. He looks back -- and sees Death on the horizon.

Another character (yet to be named -- a powerful time traveller) appears. This angelic figure "pushes the sun backwards" -- reverses time, at least for some things. The train rolls backwards, returning to the station, and the Eel catches it. Time moves forward, the train pulls away -- just as Death arrives.

The powerful time traveller (who might as well be an angel, really) and Death have a brief dialog about cause and effect and destiny and free will. Death observes that he must depart as he has "another appointment", but promises to reschedule a meeting with The Eel "as soon as possible". (Cut to next scene, with some other characters.)
