"Our Expertise" is a short essay by Karl Jones.
Our Expertise
I wonder about expertise. "People come and go so quickly here!"
Posit:
1. The old economic rules are deeply obsolete, and typically guarded by a corrupt and jealous in-group who employ cant, distraction, evasion, etc. to perpetuate their wealth
2. Current experts necessarily lack terminology and insight, the more so under future shock conditions
3. The very idea of An Expert feels quaint to me, if not obsolete. As that one voice actor says in every Die Hard knock-off trailer: "And now, only One Man ...!"
I propose that our collective agreement about recorded data is the scaling up of An Expert to Our Expertise.
