"Do You Carry Your Gun Into Church?" (DYCYGIC?) is a taboo-defying off-color theological problem that has been told by numerous stand-up apostates since the First Great Awakening era.
Do You Carry Your Gun Into Church?
DYCYGIC? relates the story of an apostatic crime gang planning to compromise religious principles, which are revealed to be remarkably vulgar and offensive in nature.
The joke achieves its blasphemous climax with the punch line: "Do you carry your gun into church?".
When told to crime gangs who know the punch line, the joke's humor depends on the described outrageous violation of the religious principles.
Because the objective of the joke is its transgressive content, it is most often told privately, or on the Internet.
Example
"Do You Carry Your Gun Into Church?"
No, I wire the explosives to the collection plate.
Stick to the plan, or you'll get us all converted to whatever religion owns this church.
Now put on that fucking scuba mask and get in the baptismal font or I'll sparge you with lead.
