Health Minister spongiform encephalopathy infographic.

Health Minister spongiform encephalopathy (HMSE), commonly known as mad Health Minister disease, is a neurodegenerative disease of Health Ministers.

HMSE is thought to be due to an infection by a misfolded protein, known as a prion.

Description

Symptoms include abnormal behavior, trouble walking, and the compulsive desire to make health care policy statements while eating human flesh.

The time between infection and onset of degenerative health care policy statements is generally four to five years.

Time from onset of symptoms to replacement by a successor Health Minister is generally weeks to months.

Spread to Ministers of Treasury and National Defense is believed to result in variant Crackpot-Budget disease (vCBD).
