The Patrick Device is a scrying engine.
Origin
The device was invented by Patrick Ladwig (nonfiction) to help Havelock with certain conflict resolution functions.
Gnomon algorithm
The device is presumed to use some form of the Gnomon algorithm, although this has not been investigated to date (May 2016).
