A Plimpton engine is an engine (nonfiction) which uses George Plimpton (nonfiction) as a source for power, control, or other properties.
Gnomon Algorithm

The Noel Harrison Sensation
Plimpton engines were famously invented by George Plimpton (nonfiction), upon accepting Noel Harrison (nonfiction)'s invitation to join him in The Noel Harrison Sensation
Together, they watched the premier showing of Being John Malkovich (nonfiction), both from the lobby (as life-size cardboard figure) and in the theater itself, with an excellent line of sight as an enormous poster covering most of the back wall (with a slightly painful aperature for the beam).
