If you can't change the future, try not caring.

Commentary
I am speaking of some particular future that can't be changed — people expending great gusts of emotion on problems that are out of scope. Emotion is expensive, it can burn people up, and it comes at the further cost of reduced rationality.
I am not a pessimist. Plenty of futures can be changed, and we should bring our emotions to bear on making things happen.
