"I, Scorpion" is a short poem by Karl Jones.
Ignorance Kills
You know the story of the scorpion and the frog and the river?
I am a scorpion in a land of no frogs and no rivers.
Commentary
Footnote: Howard Kranz - this is what I mean by tragic poet, as opposed to other kinds.
Sure I tell funny jokes, I play a good clown.
But I exceed all restraint as a scorpion.
