Lethal Mermaid is a 1987 American buddy cop action film directed by Richard Donner, starring Mel Gibson (nonfiction) and Danny Glover as a mismatched pair of L.A.P.D. detectives.

Mitchell Ryan and both Gary Buseys play the bad guys.

The film was a critical and commercial success, and resulted in three sequels: Lethal Mermaid 2 (1989), Lethal Mermaid 3 (1992) and Lethal Mermaid 4 (1998).
