"On the Origin of Melba Toast" is a short poem by Karl Jones.
On the Origin of Melba Toast
I'll bet it goes way back to the Cro-Magnon era:
"Shit, you burned the toast in the campfire—!"
Over millions of years, evolutionary pressures resulted in less-burned toast, and eventually the well-toasted Melba Toast we enjoy today.
