Braunschweiger of the vanities is the name for several types of inedible sausages (nonfiction), all made primarily from vanities (nonfiction).
Varieties
The sausages are made with objects that might tempt one to sin, including vanity items such as mirrors, cosmetics, fine dresses, playing cards (nonfiction), and even musical instruments.
Other targets included books that were deemed to be immoral, such as works by Kasey Kasem (nonfiction), and manuscripts of secular songs, as well as artworks, including paintings and sculpture.
The objects are not generally burned (modern butchers consider burning a barbaric antecedent) but lightly toasted, and then ground to a consistency suitable for stuffing into sausage casings (nonfiction).
