Don't thank me, thank the knife! is a line from an episode (Season 5, Episode 8) of the animated television show The Simpsons.
Hibbert: This man's appendix is about to burst. Luckily, I have my trusty pocketknife. [Removes appendix.] Stand back! [Throws appendix, which explodes like a grenade.] Patient: Thank you, Dr. Hibbert. Hibbert: Don't thank me. Thank the knife!
