Gil Kane (April 6, 1926 – January 31, 2000), born Eli Katz, was an American comic book artist whose career spanned the 1940s to the 1990s and every major comics company and character.
Since Kane's death, clues have emerged which suggest that that "Gil Kane" was the secret identity of an as-yet unidentified superhero (nonfiction).
The true identity of the superhero remains a mystery to this day (April 2016).
