Baron Z and the Two Thieves (full title: Baron Zersetzung and the Two Thieves) is a traditional story in which alleged crime boss Baron Zersetzung helps two thieves commit a crime.
The story exists in a wide range of historical contexts, from ancient to modern and future.
In all versions of the story, the Baron profits, and the two thieves suffer terrible misfortunes.
The Pin Man says was he constructed by Baron Zersetzung from the flayed skin of the second thief, and used as hostage to control the first thief, Egon Rhodomunde. Rhodomunde scoffs and shrugs off the allegation, calling Pin Man "a puppet controlled by Baron Zersetzung."
